Strawberry Cake Dream

Today I'm speaking about a completely different subject: Dreams
And hereby I don't mean how life could be, but the dreams that someone has while sleeping in the night. Dreams are a strange thing. On the one side they seem totally real on the other side they combine the impossible with the absurd. Most dreams I can not remember afterwards, but the night before yesterday I had a dream that left a permanent impression. Probably I've alrady forgotten many details, but I will just tell you what I can remember:

It is Sunday, late evening. All the shops are closed. My mother tells me that I shall bake a strawberry cake for her. Now it is in the middle of winter and of course I don't have any strawberries at home. Like mentioned before it is also not possible to buy some. I reply to my mother that I don't have any strawberries and therefore can not bake a strawberry cake, but she doesn't care and insists that I have to bake her one. Because of that I go searching my supplies to find something I could substitute the strawberries with. The first thing I find is a box of gummy strawberries (the sweets). I do think that I could use them in any way but am not happy, because the taste seems a bit artificial to me. There are no alternative fruits that I can use, all I find are mandarins and lemons. My younger sister looks what she can find in her Kitchen and brings me back two small packages of strawberry jam. It's the kind of package that you get for breakfast at hotels and restaurants. Now that's something I could use, alas it's just a little. Finally I get the illuminating idea, that I have a bottle of strawberry syrup at home. Mixed with milk and gelatin this should make a good strawberry filling for a cake. The only thing still missing is the dough, but that's no problem. The ingredients like flour, butter, eggs, backing powder and so on are all there. So all I need to do is bake a cake, cut it in half, spread the jam and milk-syrup-filling evenly over the lower half of the cake and place the other half of the cake on top. Proud to have found a solution for the impossible I wake up.

Is strawberry cake good?

Some background info: My mother and sister moved away to Salzburg over 13 years ago. Therefore it is completely impossible that my sister just goes over to her kitchen to have a look whether she has anything I could use. I haven't ever made a strawberry cake before and don't know how to do it. The things I found at home correlate with what I really had at home.
